Breakfast brunch Trento
Your guide to breakfast brunch Trento from Trento: everything you need to know to plan your visit from Hotel Accademia in the historic centre.
Breakfast in Trento is a daily ritual many residents live out of the house. Pastry shops, bars and cafés in the historic centre open early and remain lively until mid-morning. The model is the classic Italian bar — espresso, cappuccino, brioche or cake — but Trento has some venues that have raised the standard.
Scrigno del Duomo
On Piazza del Duomo, it has a tea room and pastry counter where the quality of the baked goods is notably above average. The location is of course unbeatable. The croissants are made with puff pastry, not industrially produced.
Libroteka
On Via San Vigilio, this bookshop-café opens in the morning for breakfast. The atmosphere is informal, there are large tables and books everywhere, and you can spend an hour there without feeling in the way. The food offer includes croissants, homemade cakes and some savoury dishes for weekend brunch.
Pasticceria Fratelli Coan
A historic pastry shop in the centre and the reference for classic Trentino sweets — the buckwheat cake, the Christmas zelten, the Easter braided loaf. For everyday breakfast it is the place to choose when you want something well made and traditional.
The Saturday Market
On Saturday morning, the weekly market in Via Belenzani also features stalls with fresh and artisan products — honey, preserves, rye bread — making the Saturday morning in the historic centre something close to an extended brunch.
Opening times
Trento’s bars generally open between 7:00 and 7:30. The sit-down brunch format with a dedicated menu is less widespread here than in other parts of Italy: bar breakfast remains the dominant format.
