Public transport Trento
Your guide to public transport Trento from Trento: everything you need to know to plan your visit from Hotel Accademia in the historic centre.
Trento is a city of human scale. The historic centre is entirely walkable, and for most attractions no transport is needed at all.
On foot
From the historic centre, most places of interest are reachable in under twenty minutes on foot. The cathedral, the castle, the MUSE, the Quartiere delle Albere and the riverbank can all be visited in sequence without any means of transport.
By bicycle
Trento is a cycle-friendly city. The cycle path along the Adige is safe and convenient, connecting the centre with the MUSE and Quartiere delle Albere without traffic. The municipality operates a bike-sharing service with docking stations in the historic centre and main squares. Bikes are bookable via app or with a card.
Bus
The urban bus network is run by Trentino Trasporti. Main lines cover all areas of the city and surrounding villages. Tickets are purchased on board or at tobacconists. The most useful lines for visitors go up to Sopramonte, Doss Trento and the western hillside villages.
Cable car
The Trento–Sardagna cable car leaves from Piazza Dante, near the railway station, and ascends in a few minutes to the village of Sardagna on the plateau above the city. It is not merely a means of transport: the panoramic view is beautiful, and arriving in a mountain village ten minutes from the centre is a pleasant change of scene.
By car
Trento’s historic centre is a ZTL (restricted traffic zone). If arriving by car, the most convenient car parks are the underground car park on Piazza Venezia and the one on Via Torre Verde. Central parking is paid. If staying at a hotel, ask about car park arrangements — many have agreements with nearby facilities.
