Three half-day walks from Trento

Half-day walks from Trento

Your guide to half-day walks from Trento from Trento: everything you need to know to plan your visit from Hotel Accademia in the historic centre.

Visitors staying in Trento for a few days who want to leave the city without complicated planning have several simple options within half an hour by car or bus.

Sopramonte and the Valle di Cavedine

The village of Sopramonte lies about six kilometres from Trento on the hill to the west of the city. From here a network of easy trails winds through vineyards and olive groves — the mild microclimate allows olive cultivation at this latitude. The path descending towards Lasino through the Valle di Cavedine is scenic and undemanding; the full descent to Cavedine takes about two hours. Urban bus line 5 from central Trento runs to Sopramonte.

Val dei Mòcheni

The Mòcheni Valley is a lateral valley of the Valsugana, inhabited by a small German-speaking community that has maintained its language and culture for centuries. The landscape is classic Trentino Alpine: sloping meadows, mountain farms, fir forests. From Palù del Fersina trails of varying difficulty begin. Bus from Trento to Sant’Orsola.

Dürer Trail

This trail takes its name from Albrecht Dürer’s famous painting View of Trento, made during a journey to Italy in the late 15th century. The route winds through Val di Cembra between Teroldego vineyards and timeless rural landscapes, with information panels reproducing artworks inspired by the area. It can be done by bike along the cycle path.

Practical notes

Comfortable shoes and a water bottle are enough for a half day. Spring and autumn are the best seasons — beautiful light, no crowds, and the trails are dry.
